• Good news for Halifax food truck owners and lovers: The CBC reports that the city is looking to change the regulations on how tenders are offered.

• Bad news for falafel lovers. Scotia Square’s stalwart, Ray’s Falafel, is getting kicked out. (via The Coast)

• It’s getting close to maple season here in Nova Scotia. The CBC looks into diminishing yields in this province, and NPR talks about the grading of maple syrup, or rather, how everyone seems to get an “A”. When really, I’m happy with a “B”.

• A great long read in The Atlantic by Ryan Jacobs about the truffle trade: From France to Italy to China, real to “fake” it’s a big industry with everyone trying to get in on the action.

• An interesting read from a blogger on what are the best ways to season a cast iron pan, as well as which oils. Her answer: flax seed oil.
